The first Stöcklis

A February 2024 trip, Jade’s birthday gift and a memorable step in the skiing obsession.

Why this trip stays with me

Alpe d’Huez is where my first Stöckli skis enter the story. Jade gave them to me as a birthday present during the February 2024 trip. That memory sits between the first proper family ski holiday and the much harder learning that followed in Zermatt.

A resort with its own episode

Episode 3 gives Alpe d’Huez a dedicated place in CarveCast, including the experience of visiting with Jade. The photographs here come from my own Alpe d’Huez albums, with mountain, lift and skiing scenes.

Equipment and experience

The skis became part of a much longer equipment journey. The Stöckli review library covers later tests and models; this resort page records where the personal connection began. I am now a Stöckli ambassador, which is worth knowing when following that equipment story.

For a current trip

Use the resort’s official information for maps, transport and operating details. My early visits describe my stage of learning at the time, rather than setting a difficulty rating for every slope today.
